Hand pump

Here is the old hand pump from the Valmont garden.

For generations, it was used to draw water by hand—to irrigate the estate’s crops and gardens.

In the days before running water reached this area, just a few strokes of the handle were enough to bring water up from the well.

Today, it is no longer used to water the crops, but it stands as a testament to a time when every drop of water mattered.
